The height of the saddle is determined by the riding condition
Sit on the saddle in the basic position, place the crank on the extension line of the saddle pipe, and place the heel on the pedal. If you can straighten your feet in this position, this is a certain position of your saddle. This adjustment is used in situations where pedaling is important.
When stretching and bending the knee, the smaller the curvature, the easier the knee is, and the same goes for pedaling. The smaller the curvature, the less fatigue it is, and the rotation of the knee is also smooth. However, do not raise the saddle too high as it can be difficult to adapt to certain road conditions, such as encountering cracks and sometimes damaging the back of the knee.
The area with sharp descent/up and down is further lowered by 5-10cm compared to the basic position, so that one-third of the soles of the feet can touch the ground when sitting on the saddle, which is easy to land on. The lower the weight of the saddle during trial, the more convenient it is to move, and the better the maneuverability of the mountain bike. Right photo: (top) The posture when stepping on the main pedal. (Below) The posture when maneuverability is the main focus. Left photo: When going downhill, the height of the saddle should allow the buttocks to move back smoothly.
Direction/front and rear position/installation angle of the saddle
Direction: As shown in the left figure, the centerline of the saddle is on the same line as the centerline of the frame cross pipe. Front and rear position: the center of the saddle or slightly backward. (As shown in the left figure, the center of the saddle and seat tube are consistent) ■ Tilt: As shown in the left figure, the top of the saddle is parallel to the ground. The above content is for reference, as the position and installation angle of the saddle vary from person to person, it should be adjusted while trying, until you are satisfied with the adjustment Adjustment method: As shown in the photo on the right, use a hexagonal wrench to loosen the screws below the saddle to adjust. After each adjustment, be sure to pay attention to whether the saddle is in a straight line when tightening the seat.
